Roy Williams SUCKS

I can’t help but continue to trash Roy E. Williams more and more lately. I admit lately he has had a few good games in losses to the Giants and Chargers. But I still look at the things he did not do instead of what he does do productively. My friend and I talk about every game and our main consensus every time is about how much we can’t stand Roy Williams. Even when we win it’s like that our whole topic of conversation. With T.O. when he was our #1 receiver although we may not have liked his mouth but he still produced on the field and did not put our team in position to lose. Last year T.O. had 69 receptions, 10 touchdowns for 1054 yards with 1 fumble. Roy Williams this year in 13 games has caught 36 receptions, 6 touchdowns for 578 yards with 5 fumbles and ranks 53rd in the league with all wide receivers. A rookie Crabtree for the 49ers ranks higher than him in only 8 games this year. And quietly Miles Austin has in 13 games caught 58 passes, has 10 touchdowns for 999 yards and only 1 fumble. I don’t know about you but that seems like #1 receiver numbers to me. But we had before the Packers game in week 10 Williams come out and say "I'm the No. 1 receiver, but things are just going No. 2's way. He (Miles Austin) gets the ball thrown correctly his way, I'm stretching and falling and doing everything. Every other receiver who's been here, the balls are there. Our footballs are everywhere right now.” He puts our quarterback under the bus before a game when we were on a win streak. Then in that game he has a ball perfectly thrown to him where it touches both hands hits him in the face and he drops the ball and has a nice 46 yard reception that ended with him fumbling.

I see more and more balls that hit his hands that he just can’t come up with. In the Giants game it seems to me that eh should have had 4 touchdowns with the balls thrown to him and in the end he does end with 2 but I am still thinking about the one in the 1st quarter that hit his hands in the end zone and Dallas having to settle for a field goal. Now we come to this week where we are going to play one of the biggest games of the season against the undefeated Saints on the road and we have Roy Williams opening his mouth again about guaranteeing a victory. Now in my opinion we did have a shot at winning this game if Ware is healthy and ready to go but any underdog advantage we might have had is destroyed after you open your mouth like that. It seems Roy likes to hear himself talk and like to celebrate insignificant things like first downs every chance he gets. We know when he was in Detroit he didn’t have that many chances to get a lot of first downs but your playing with the Dallas Cowboys and nothing is worth celebrating unless you score when going on to win the game. Hell I’ll take it a step further when you playing for the Cowboys nothing is acceptable unless you are winning playoff games and winning championships. And these Cowboys have done none of that. We have not won a playoff game or championship since 1996. So why don’t we concentrate on taking each game one at a time; taking care of business to make it to the playoffs to have the opportunity to win some playoff games, instead of being like Roy Williams and running his mouth and celebrating insignificant acts. Mediocrity is not acceptable for Dallas Cowboys and that’s just what Dallas has been for the past 13 years.

Dallas December Woes Continue

Being a Cowboy fan for as long as I can remember, I flat out do not see light at the end of this long tunnel that our December woes will end this December. The game yesterday made me flat out sick to my stomach to watch. To control the ball for almost 40 minutes in the game and to look up and see that we lost the game by 7 just does not make any sense to me. The turning point of the game for me where I knew that Dallas was not going to win the game came in the 2nd quarter when Barber fumbled the ball in Giants territory and the Giants then scored the touchdown to go up 14-10 and then Dallas had the opportunity to bring it to a 1 point game and Folk missed again. I am stunned to see that Folk has missed now 8 field goals this year. He is not money and maybe we need to think about using the rookie Buehler. Leaving points on the field like that is not going to do us any favors in these last 4 games. Of all the playoff contenders we have the toughest schedule by far. We play the Redskins, Chargers and Eagles at home, but play the Saints on the road. None of those teams right now look easy and the way we looked yesterday winnable.

How do you double your opponent’s amount of time of procession, win turnovers and still lose the game. Well I’m flabbergasted myself. One big reason in my opinion is that Dallas players are more concerned with being flashy and being the star they have on their helmet then in winning. You have a prim Dona quarterback who dates every big blond star that single. Roy Williams who I really just can’t stand he is worse than T.O. He not only doesn’t catch the ball when thrown to him on his hands but he showboats on every catch he does make. If we are losing by 2 touchdowns and he scores he will still have to try and put on a show or even if he gets a first down he has to showboat. Its like only about him and he doesn’t care if we are losing as long as he gets a catch. Same with Barber yesterday on a 2 yard gain he is out there pumping his chest like he just won the Superbowl. STOP it and take care of business. The past 3 years under Tony Romo the Cowboys are a combined 5-11 in the month of December. Celebrate after the month to see if we make the playoff s and see if we can get a playoff win. It has been very painful to not have a playoff win in 13 going almost on 14 years. The last time they won a playoff game I was in middle school.

But I’m not taking anything away from the New York Giants they flat out beat us and made the big plays to win the game. Dallas defense gave up the 74 yard run to Brandon Jacobs, Hixon ran a punt back untouched for 79 yards and they got a fumble recovery on their defense. Dallas just needs to take long hard look in the mirror and figure out if they want to be a contender or a pretender. This game was a painful loss. And we can not put any blame on Tony Romo. He ran the plays that were called and placed balls where only his receivers could catch. He went 41-55 for 392 yards with 3 touchdowns. He did not make Romo type mistakes when the Giants defense continued to rush him. He and Witten were on a mission. Witten passed Drew Pearson for 2nd all time Cowboys receptions list. I think the blame for the Cowboys offense stalling was the play calling in the 2nd half. We totally deciding to go away form the run and only ran the ball 23 times, while passing it 55 times. That my friends is not going to win games in December and I wish that the media would start taking a stronger look at Jason Garrett’s play calling. He is inconsistent and just panics when the game is on the line and I think this is where for the longest time Romo got the panics with games on the line. Garrett couldn’t hack it with games on the line when he played except for the Thanksgiving game, way back when so why expect it when he is the coordinator. I just wish Jerry would fire him so this is my plug for him to be canned ASAP if we dont make the playoffs. And unless he can turn it around the Dallas offense will continue to struggle and Dallas will continue to lose big games in December.

Why the Cowboys SHOULD beat the PACK!!!!

Well my bestie who I have mentioned a few times on my blog has started talking trash about how her Green Bay Packers are going to beat my Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Its true this is a big match up against 2 storied NFL franchises. But instead of just telling HER all the reasons why Dallas is better than Green Bay, I decided to dedicate an entry of my blog to it on my top 10 reasons why her Packers should lose to the Cowboys,

1.This time in Lambeau is not the NFC championship or "Ice Bowl" as it is also referred to as of 1967. For those that are not familiar with that game, the Ice Bowl was the coldest game ever plauyed in the NFL. It had a -47 wind chill. The Packers won the game 21-17 on a Bart Starr quarterback sneak on the 3 yard line with 16 seconds left on the clock. The Packers went on to win Superbowl II against the Oakland Raiders much to the disappointment of the Dallas Cowboys. This game will not be that cold this Sunday. It is supposed to be a chilly 44 and Dallas has a quarterback leading our offense who is from Wisconsin. So those are favorable conditions for a southern team.

2. Green Bay Offensive Line. Their o-line is flat out a wreck this year playing mix and match a lineman each game. It sure doesn't hide they are hurting when looking at the amount of sacks on Aaron Rodgers this year. They are on pace to break David Carr's most sacks in one year record. Rodgers is a mobile quarterback so its hard to explain 39 sacks without looking squarely at the o-line. But this week they are doing up against one of the better defenses in the league who can get to the quarterback.

3. T.O.-less locker room. Without Owens this year the team has not only come together but also taking accountability for their play on the field. You had leaders like Ratliff taking sole ownership for giving up 2 long rushes against the Eagles. And instead of putting blame on his teammates or coaches he took the blame. With him, Brooking, and Ware leading the defense and Rome finally starting to be a leader on the offense, it is starting to show on the field with wins. They are starting to use a scary term from the past superbowl championships and that word is TEAM. When you play as one the results come through.

4. Green Bay's pass defense. Their pass defense is banged up to go right along with that O-line. They have a safety questionable with concussion, Woodson nursing a hip, and linebacker Chillar out for the year with a hand injury. That leaves holes in a pass defense that has to go up against a hot spread defense that doesn't just rely on 1-3 receivers but more like 6-7. That makes it very hard to cover them with such a banged up defense.

5. Hawk can't cover Witten. Flat out the way Dallas has 2 tight ends that are all around players that block, run passing routes with speed and have good hands their linebackers can not match up. Especially Hawk. Bennett and Witten create such large mismatches.

6. Tony Romo is undefeated in the month of November. As bad as he plays in December and January without a playoff win to his name, he is surprisingly undefeated at 14-0 in the month of November. Also he is coming off his 4th straight 300 yard game. So he is not going into this game without chemistry with his receivers including Roy Williams.

7. Dallas defense is healthy and hungry for sacks. Ware and Ratliff and the rest of the defense are coming on strong after having a slow start without a sack in the first few games. Now they have compiled 20 sacks this season. They stay in the quarterback's face all game, keeping him out of rhythm that eliminates the deep bal. Ask Eagles’ receiver Jackson how many yard he got against the Cowboys mainly because they stayed in McNabb's face all game. By doing that the defense compiled 4 sacks, 2 interceptions.

8. Razorback formation. This Dallas’ new look formation finally showing signs of life this past weekend, has created headaches for opposing defensive coordinators. Named after Felix Jones’ alma matter because most of the time it has him taking the direct snap. Our o-lineman Davis is paving the way for Jones, Barber, and Choice leaves so many possibilities of where the ball is going when they line up in this formation.

9. Green Bay’s rush defense. Lately their rush defense has been able to hold the run. But this week your not going up against Tampa Bay the worst in the league but the Dallas Cowboys whose 3 headed monsters are looking to have a breakout game. Bash, Flash, and Tash (Barber, Jones, and Choice) have not had many big opportunities but with a banged up Green Bay defense they are looking to have a monster game.

10. Finally The Green Bay Packers Lost to Tampa Bay Buccaneers! They let the game get away from them with a rookie quarterback leading the Bucs and gave the Bucs their first win of the season. They are a banged up football team and to let a team that ESPN has ranked dead last in power rankings beat you when you are trying to catch up to the Minnesota Vikings who are 3 games ahead of you in the division just equals the Dallas Cowboys should beat the Green Bay Packers to give them their 3rd straight loss.

Its not ALL Romo's fault

Ok as I have been watching the first quarter of the NFL season and watching my Cowboys play. Most of the season has had me yell and scream at the screen like a maniac like in fact they could hear what I have to say or even care. I hate watching them play below their potential and lose games that are winnable. Plus living in New York with both New york teams starting the season off so well. But as I watch the games and how instead of progressing offensively we are regressing. But after the game on sunday against the Denver Broncos it was a tale of two halfs. And for the second straight game Tony Romo not having a touchdown pass. Very surprising when Jerry Jones has placed so many weapons on this offense. Tony Romo definitely does not look comfortable out on the field, doesn't look like he is leading the team, and loses his focus so many times with the game on the line. Granted he holds the ball way too long, sometimes throws inaccurately, and throws into double coverage a lot. And unless he pulls it together it is going to get worse before it gets better. I do not envy his job. He is expected when he suits up with the star on his helmet to produce and win not just by the fans but by his owner. But as the season goes on and how he is getting progressively worse and it is actually expected for him to mess up in the game at least once. In fact a good friend of mine and I have even come up with our saying when people rag on us about the Boys of "that's our Romo." He is what he is and as much as we want to see a Staubach or Aikman type quarterback walk through the door and save day we just have to accept him and hopefully he can turn it around and regain his confidence and start protecting the ball.
But the same problems that we have had since Wade Phillips took over the team that do not have anything to do with Tony Romo's play are still there. The biggest one I see constantly is taking accountability for your play. Yes Romo's play has cost us 2 games this year. Now I would love the coaches to step in and say publically or even bench Romo and make him accountable for his play. He doesn't need to be caudled any more. And granted we don't have the most accurate backup in Kitna but maybe Romo needs a wake up call. He has done nothing to prove that he is a superstar in this league. He may be in the top 5 with quaterbacks in yards, 300 yard games, and touchdown passes in the past 3 years but that means nothing. He has not been able to finish strong in the big games late in the season and has yet to win a playoff game. And until he can show and prove he is a star then he will not be classified with the elite quarterbacks in the league. Jerry Jones has created a Romo friendly environment for him and he has yet to thrive in it. No T.O. no Jessica, no pacman =no excuses left. Its time to lead in big games and stop talking about why you didn't show up in the games.

But as much as its the sexy pick to just put all the blame on Romo, there are other factors that contribute to this dismal start for America's team. The biggest one is Jason Garrett, our offensive coordinator. I just can't get a grasp of his play calling. We start the game off well running the ball and then every 2nd half he seems to shy away from of it letting Romo throw all over the field. Typically Romo then likes to throw into double coverage or to the best corner back on the field like sunday when he threw 16 times in the direction of a shut down corner Champ Bailey. And then with the game on the line he throw to our #4 receiver Sam Hurd. No disrespect to Hurd but there is a reason that he is our #4 for a reason. The fact they throw so many times to their best corner instead of away from him just continues to puzzle me. Also, in the final minutes of the game they have our best hands on the team in Jason Witten instead of going out to catch a ball blocking for Romo. You eliminate our best weapons and take away one of our strengths in our tight ends which is creating mismatches. They create mismatches all over the field helping themselves and the rest of the receivers get open. They do not deserve to win when they do not use their players strengths and best weapons with the game on the line. A lot of that rest squarely on Garrett not Romo's shoulders.

At the end of the first quarter of the season, you are what your record is and right now the Cowboys are mediocre team with .500 record. They do not have a swagger about them with the want to win as a team. The cowboys of the 70's and 90's had the want to win and did not let the outside world take away from what they do on the field. Yes to be a Cowboy comes with a lot but its all with how you handle the additives. And right now these Cowboys of 2000 are about to go the entire decade without winning one playoff game. They show no sense of urgency to want to win. Its time for someone with the star on their helmet to take the bull by the horn and be a leader on the team. They desperately need it.
I am going to end this on a positive note though. The one bright spot has to be the ever improving Dallas D. They are starting to show signs of improvement. The touchdown that Brandon Marshall scored I don't even blame entirely on them. The fact that in the 2nd half our offense had so many 3 and outs they were noticeably tired. But they had so many big 3rd and 4th down stops that shows hope. Wade's play calling on the defensive side of the ball should be commended if any thing and our young secondary is showing signs of future greatness. But the season is not over but its time turn it around. The Boys need to get back to their bread and butter of running the ball with Flash, Bash, and Tash (felix jones, marion barber, and Choice) and live with our getting stronger defense and just dominate the game the way their talent warrants. So its not just Romo's fault!
