Stuper Toilet Bowl (part5)

Well I have been gone for a min with the holidays but now im back to give you the 5th installment of the Stuper toilet bowl. But before I begin let me send my get well soons to Meyer of Florida who is set to resign today due to health reasons. The game needs ya so I hope you get better soon. Also since I have been gone my Dallas Cowboys knocked the who dat Saints off their pedestal. Good job fellas but now its time to take care of business tonight against the deadskins who just looked horrible Monday night versus the Giants. Finally before I start the stuper toilet bowl I thought I would put it out there since we have had almost 1/3 of the bowl games plays I am a dismal 4-5 with a few big games coming up so lets get on a big win streak.

Now in the 5th installment we have only 2 games

Cleveland Browns (3-11)vs. Buffalo Bills(5-9)

This is a rematch of the worst football game I ever saw. These teams are just flat out bad. On October 11, they played each other and the final score was 6-3. This was the first game the Browns won this year not that it was pretty at all. Their offense combined to pass for 18-48 for 175 yards. The Bills had a 152 of those yards and lost the game. Anderson the winning QB had a 15 passer rating. I expect if these 2 teams were to meet again to have about the same outcome of just a bad game cluttered with penalties and turnovers since that what these 2 teams are very good at. But only difference the Bills will win this one sending the Browns to the 1st ever Stuper Toilet Bowl.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-12) vs. St. Louis Rams (1-13)

This will be another game that will be filled with nothing but flags and turnovers. These teams are just flat out awful. The sometimes look like they cannot do anything right. When Tampa Bay plays its almost like betting on when in the 2nd half they will get their 1st first down of the game. But I believe even though their record is better that the Bucs still lose this game to go on to meet in the Stuper Toilet Bowl against the Cleveland Browns.

Roy Williams SUCKS

I can’t help but continue to trash Roy E. Williams more and more lately. I admit lately he has had a few good games in losses to the Giants and Chargers. But I still look at the things he did not do instead of what he does do productively. My friend and I talk about every game and our main consensus every time is about how much we can’t stand Roy Williams. Even when we win it’s like that our whole topic of conversation. With T.O. when he was our #1 receiver although we may not have liked his mouth but he still produced on the field and did not put our team in position to lose. Last year T.O. had 69 receptions, 10 touchdowns for 1054 yards with 1 fumble. Roy Williams this year in 13 games has caught 36 receptions, 6 touchdowns for 578 yards with 5 fumbles and ranks 53rd in the league with all wide receivers. A rookie Crabtree for the 49ers ranks higher than him in only 8 games this year. And quietly Miles Austin has in 13 games caught 58 passes, has 10 touchdowns for 999 yards and only 1 fumble. I don’t know about you but that seems like #1 receiver numbers to me. But we had before the Packers game in week 10 Williams come out and say "I'm the No. 1 receiver, but things are just going No. 2's way. He (Miles Austin) gets the ball thrown correctly his way, I'm stretching and falling and doing everything. Every other receiver who's been here, the balls are there. Our footballs are everywhere right now.” He puts our quarterback under the bus before a game when we were on a win streak. Then in that game he has a ball perfectly thrown to him where it touches both hands hits him in the face and he drops the ball and has a nice 46 yard reception that ended with him fumbling.
I see more and more balls that hit his hands that he just can’t come up with. In the Giants game it seems to me that eh should have had 4 touchdowns with the balls thrown to him and in the end he does end with 2 but I am still thinking about the one in the 1st quarter that hit his hands in the end zone and Dallas having to settle for a field goal. Now we come to this week where we are going to play one of the biggest games of the season against the undefeated Saints on the road and we have Roy Williams opening his mouth again about guaranteeing a victory. Now in my opinion we did have a shot at winning this game if Ware is healthy and ready to go but any underdog advantage we might have had is destroyed after you open your mouth like that. It seems Roy likes to hear himself talk and like to celebrate insignificant things like first downs every chance he gets. We know when he was in Detroit he didn’t have that many chances to get a lot of first downs but your playing with the Dallas Cowboys and nothing is worth celebrating unless you score when going on to win the game. Hell I’ll take it a step further when you playing for the Cowboys nothing is acceptable unless you are winning playoff games and winning championships. And these Cowboys have done none of that. We have not won a playoff game or championship since 1996. So why don’t we concentrate on taking each game one at a time; taking care of business to make it to the playoffs to have the opportunity to win some playoff games, instead of being like Roy Williams and running his mouth and celebrating insignificant acts. Mediocrity is not acceptable for Dallas Cowboys and that’s just what Dallas has been for the past 13 years.
This is what we strive for....

Not just this

My Bowl Picks

New Mexico Bowl ~ Fresno St. vs. Wyoming

Fresno State- pretty much because even though Wyoming had a stronger schedule they lost horribly to those 4 ranked teams and the wins they did have were mostly by close margins.

St. Petersburg Bowl ~ UCF vs. Rutgers

UCF- Although Rutgers had a stronger schedule, UCF mad up for it by playing stronger non-conference games. But has had a strong ending to their season after losing to #2 Texas hadily they bounced back to win 3 straing including beating #13 Houston.

New Orleans Bowl ~ Southern Miss vs. Middle Tenn. St.

Middle Tennessee- I’m going to go on a limbe even though Southern Miss is favored to win and have the stronger conference. I think that the Middle Tenn. Blue Raiders are going to come in hot with a 6 game win streak and big win on the road versus Maryland.

Las Vegas Bowl ~ (16) Oregon St. vs. (15) BYU

BYU- Although OSU is favored given their 8-8 out of the Pac -10 and their losses ended up being close games against Oregon, Arizona, Cincinnati, and USU I think BYU will have something to prove to the bigger conference. Their 8-2 reord isn’t horrible beating #3 Oklahoma at the time #22 Utah. Their losses granted to ACC FSU and the #3 TCU were blowouts that they didn’t even show up for, I think will still get the win. I think it will be a close game and it is a game I have on my list to watch this bowl season though.

Poinsettia Bowl ~ (23) Utah vs. California

California- Utah may be ranked #23 but they have no big wins under their belt and the 2 ranked teams they did play TCU, BYU, and Oregon. California will have a lot to prove in their game after getting it handed to them by Washington on Dec. 5 and knocking them out of the Sun Bowl. They have a stronger schedule coming out of the Pac -10 with having wins against Standford, Arizona, and Maryland out of the ACC.

Hawaii Bowl ~ Nevada vs. SMU

Nevada- SMU is just happy to get to bowl game and Nevada will win big. SMU has no big wins and losing to the ranked TCU and Houston. But although Nevada lost to only ranked teams they played in Notre Dame and Boise State. They notched an 8 game win streak during the season with their strong rushing attack and gain the win.

Little Caesars Bowl ~ Ohio vs. Marshall

Ohio- Marshall has a weak schedule that had them going 6-6. Ohio with its 9-4 record out of the mid-American conference and with Dan Lefevour will win the game.

Meineke Bowl ~ (17) Pittsburgh vs. North Carolina

Pitt- UNC is an inconsistent team having wins against Virginia Tech and Miami but losing to FSU and UVA the worst in the conference. Pitt will be too much after coming off a tough loss by 1 to Cincinnati and will win it in the end.

Emerald Bowl ~ Boston Coll. Vs. USC

USC- Even though I would love to see USC lose I just think that BC doesn’t have much of a chance. Boston College’s streak of 8 straight bowl game wins will come to an end this year. Even though they are a heart felt underdog having lost their coach, their best defensive player in Herzlich and their best quarterback and still having an 8-4 record was an accomplishment enough. But they wont beat the fast defense that Carroll will put on the field that also have a lot to play for after losing their best running back to a tragic weight room accident.

Music City Bowl ~ Kentucky vs. Clemson

Clemson- No brainer there with Spiller playing to think that Clemson is not going to win this game. Clemson although lost twice this year to Georgia Tech and also losing to TCU, they still put on good shows in all 3 games. They in fact held TCU to only 14 point in a close game loss back in September.

Independence Bowl ~ Texas A&M vs. Georgia

Georgia- Pretty evenly matched teams with SEC vs Big 12. But given the heartbreakers and lopsided losses that Georgia has had they have had big wins as well namely against the ACC champs Georgia Tech on the road. While A & A has no big wins only lopsided losses to show for their 6-6 season.

EagleBank Bowl ~ UCLA vs. Temple

UCLA- Pac 10 vs. Mac. Another no brainer. The MAC has a weak conference and even if Temple went 9-3 and going against a mediocre Pac-10 team. UCLA has a few big wins out of conference but the big one is on the road against Tennessee. I think in the End the strength of schedule will help UCLA.

Champs Sports Bowl ~ (14) Miami (FL) vs. (24) Wisconsin

Miami-Its hard for me to go against an ACC team when the spread is so close and the fact that the U will be playing essentially a home game in Orlando. I think this game will be close but I will always go ACC when they play Big 10.

Humanitarian Bowl ~ Bowling Green vs. Idaho

Idaho- It’s a home game for them and no team wants to end their season losing 4 straight. WAC vs. MAC, I go WAC this year.

Holiday Bowl ~ (22) Arizona vs. (20) Nebraska

Nebraska- Defense wins games and with a man named Suh, I think the Cornhuskers get it done. Arizona will make it a good game after their good season notching wins against USC, Central Michigan, Stanford, UCLA and Oregon State. So don’t be surprised if it remains close throughout.

Armed Forces Bowl ~ Houston vs. Air Force

Houston- Had a great season at 10-3 and I think the winning keeps up for them with their All-American quarterback.

Sun Bowl ~ Oklahoma vs. (19) Stanford

Standford-Much to the disspointment of my Dad, cousin and uncle I have to go with one of the most dominate runners in the game today with Gerhart. Without Bradford, the Oklahoma Sooners better hope their defense can keep them in the game. But in the end it’s a down year for the Big 12 and I think the Pac-10 wins this battle.

Texas Bowl ~ Navy vs. Missouri

Navy-In more of a heartfelt pick, I am goging to go Navy. This in my opinion will be a tight game but in the end the Midshipman will get the win. In a down year for Missouri after losing Chase McDaniels last year.

Insight Bowl ~ Minnesota vs. Iowa St.

Minnesota- I have no interest in watching two 6-6 teams play each other and I haven’t watched either team play this year. And since Marion Barber is an Alum I’ll go with the Gophers. I mean the worst of the Big 10 vs the worse of the Big 12.

Chick-fil-A Bowl ~ (12) Virginia Tech vs. Tennessee

VA Tech- I grew up mainly in VA and when it comes to ACC Tech is my favorite team so I am going to go with the Hokies against the always in turmoil Lane Kiffen.

Outback Bowl ~ Northwestern vs. Auburn

Auburn- I am not a fan of the Big 10 so when they play an SEC team I will pick SEC. The only big win Northwestern had was against Iowa when they were undefeated. But Auburn has had to dig deep to get to their 7-5 record in the SEC and after almost beating their rivals Alabama I think it will be a big win for the Tigers.

Gator Bowl ~ (18) West Virginia vs. Florida St.

FSU-I think this is definitely on of the games I have highlighted that I want to watch being Bobby Bowden’s last game coaching. I think in a heartfelt home game that FSU will pull out the victory. But both teams will make it a very good game.

Capital One Bowl ~ (11) Penn St. vs. (13) LSU

LSU-It pains me to go against PAterno but I feel the SEC vs the Big 10 in recent history has shown that they can not compete. This game should be really good but I don’t predict Les Miles to have a poor clock management error again and LSU will win.

Rose Bowl ~ (8) Ohio St. vs. (7) Oregon

Oregon-My first ever Bowl game and I predict a really great game that the Ducks end up winning in the end. I am not a Tressel fan and I believe the strength of schedule favor the Ducks. And since their loss at the beginning of the season have been on a mission to make it to this game and will not be let down even with the Buckeyes and Pryor coming to the west.

Sugar Bowl ~ (5) Florida vs. (4) Cincinnati

Florida- There are just too many distractions for Cincinnati to overcome with losing their head football coach to Notre Dame. And they are going up against a team that has been there done that in the past 4 years. Tim Tebow will not end his career with 2 straight losses and will find a way to win this game.

International Bowl ~ South Florida vs. Northern Illinois

South Florida-Mac vs. Big east match up, the big east will win this one handily. I have no interest in watching this game and in the end I think South Florida will be too much.

Cotton Bowl ~ (21) Oklahoma St. vs. Mississippi

Mississippi- It will be a good game but I think that the rise of Mississippi in the SEC will be too much to overcome by Oklahoma State.

Papa John's.com Bowl ~ South Carolina vs. Connecticut

UCONN-I think that this will be a close game that with their teammate in their heart and minds will help them beat the Gamecocks. South Carolina had a great season along with Uconn but sheer will on the part of Uconn will help then get this bowl win.

Liberty Bowl ~ Arkansas vs. East Carolina

Arkansas- Conference USA vs. SEC, I will take the SEC. Strength of schedule having gone against the nations best will propel them to a victory.

Alamo Bowl ~ Michigan St. vs. Texas Tech

Texas Tech- The high power offense with pretty much home field advantage will win against then a less then interesting Michigan state team that went 6-6 this year.

Fiesta Bowl ~ (6) Boise St. vs. (3) TCU

TCU-Defense wins games and with the nations best defense and 4th in total offense will win a close game.

Orange Bowl ~ (10) Iowa vs. (9) Georgia Tech

Iowa-Iowa will have a healthy offense and matched with their stingy pass defense will win the game.

GMAC Bowl ~ (25) Cent. Michigan vs. Troy

Central Michigan-With one of the nations best quarterbacks running the show. Flat out will win this game against a disappointing Troy team.

BCS Championship ~ (2) Texas vs. (1) Alabama

Texas-Everyone is saying Texas doesn’t have a chance but when you keep telling a team that they will lose for a month they are going to come in ready to play with one of the nation’s best quarterbacks who has done almost everything in his career but have the chance to play in this game and he will not disappoint Texas 24 -Alabama 20

Stuper Toilet Bowl (Part 4)

And now we are down to the bottom 8.
Seattle Seahawks (5-7) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-11)- Flat out the Bucs even though they have looked better since changing quarterbacks they are still a bad team. The Seahawks with Hasselback have a better chance of winning then the Bucs. And I think they will win it in a close game. I guess we will see for sure come Dec 20th when these teams play each other in real life though.

Detroit Lions (2-10) vs. St. Louis Rams (1-11)- A rematch from Week 7 that the Rams got their only win but I think that in this rematch the Lions come out on top. The past few weeks they have not rolled over to lose to every team but came out to compete. With the young QB who continues to gain the loyalty of his team due to his toughness to never give up I think is the difference maker in the game and even though the Rams have Jackson, that is all they have and I just don’t see that as being enough.

Buffalo Bills (4-8) vs. Kansas City Chiefs (3-9)- Maybe this game I am a little biased, the Chiefs gave my cowboys a good game that they needed overtime to get the win and the Bills have the whiney T.O. I think that the Chiefs have had gained some new confidence after beating Pittsburgh. It will be a rematch from this coming that I feel the Chiefs get the better of regardless of the Bills having a better record.

Oakland Raiders (4-8) vs. Cleveland Browns (2-11)- The browns are just a bad team all around their now 2 wins after beating the Steelers their offense has just not been able to score and with the Raiders giving Sand Diego a good games but losing while also beating the Eagles, Steelers, and Bengals. Its painful to say this but the Raiders are a better team. The Browns are last in offense and defense and their only wins against the Bills and Steelers their offense his been horrible. Their win against the bills Anderson completed 2 passes for 23 yards and their win against the Steelers had Quinn throwing for 90 yards. Two bad teams playing but the Browns are just the worse of the 2.

Dallas December Woes Continue

Being a Cowboy fan for as long as I can remember, I flat out do not see light at the end of this long tunnel that our December woes will end this December. The game yesterday made me flat out sick to my stomach to watch. To control the ball for almost 40 minutes in the game and to look up and see that we lost the game by 7 just does not make any sense to me. The turning point of the game for me where I knew that Dallas was not going to win the game came in the 2nd quarter when Barber fumbled the ball in Giants territory and the Giants then scored the touchdown to go up 14-10 and then Dallas had the opportunity to bring it to a 1 point game and Folk missed again. I am stunned to see that Folk has missed now 8 field goals this year. He is not money and maybe we need to think about using the rookie Buehler. Leaving points on the field like that is not going to do us any favors in these last 4 games. Of all the playoff contenders we have the toughest schedule by far. We play the Redskins, Chargers and Eagles at home, but play the Saints on the road. None of those teams right now look easy and the way we looked yesterday winnable.

How do you double your opponent’s amount of time of procession, win turnovers and still lose the game. Well I’m flabbergasted myself. One big reason in my opinion is that Dallas players are more concerned with being flashy and being the star they have on their helmet then in winning. You have a prim Dona quarterback who dates every big blond star that single. Roy Williams who I really just can’t stand he is worse than T.O. He not only doesn’t catch the ball when thrown to him on his hands but he showboats on every catch he does make. If we are losing by 2 touchdowns and he scores he will still have to try and put on a show or even if he gets a first down he has to showboat. Its like only about him and he doesn’t care if we are losing as long as he gets a catch. Same with Barber yesterday on a 2 yard gain he is out there pumping his chest like he just won the Superbowl. STOP it and take care of business. The past 3 years under Tony Romo the Cowboys are a combined 5-11 in the month of December. Celebrate after the month to see if we make the playoff s and see if we can get a playoff win. It has been very painful to not have a playoff win in 13 going almost on 14 years. The last time they won a playoff game I was in middle school.

But I’m not taking anything away from the New York Giants they flat out beat us and made the big plays to win the game. Dallas defense gave up the 74 yard run to Brandon Jacobs, Hixon ran a punt back untouched for 79 yards and they got a fumble recovery on their defense. Dallas just needs to take long hard look in the mirror and figure out if they want to be a contender or a pretender. This game was a painful loss. And we can not put any blame on Tony Romo. He ran the plays that were called and placed balls where only his receivers could catch. He went 41-55 for 392 yards with 3 touchdowns. He did not make Romo type mistakes when the Giants defense continued to rush him. He and Witten were on a mission. Witten passed Drew Pearson for 2nd all time Cowboys receptions list. I think the blame for the Cowboys offense stalling was the play calling in the 2nd half. We totally deciding to go away form the run and only ran the ball 23 times, while passing it 55 times. That my friends is not going to win games in December and I wish that the media would start taking a stronger look at Jason Garrett’s play calling. He is inconsistent and just panics when the game is on the line and I think this is where for the longest time Romo got the panics with games on the line. Garrett couldn’t hack it with games on the line when he played except for the Thanksgiving game, way back when so why expect it when he is the coordinator. I just wish Jerry would fire him so this is my plug for him to be canned ASAP if we dont make the playoffs. And unless he can turn it around the Dallas offense will continue to struggle and Dallas will continue to lose big games in December.

Stuper Toilet Bowl (Part 3)

Ok as we move to the 1st round of my playoffs that are similar the way the NFL formats them with a Wild Card week, Divisional week, Conference Championship and then the Final Toilet Bowl Championship. No remember the way you advance is to be the worse of the two teams playing off. The 4 teams that by record that are flat out awful and get the bye week are Cleveland Browns (1-10), Kansas City Chiefs (3-8), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-10), and the St. Louis Rams (1-10). That leaves for the Wild Card week 4 match-ups Jacksonville Jaguars (6-5) and Buffalo Bills (4-7), (Please remember we started this in week 9 so I am not taking into account until the match-ups what the teams have done in the past few weeks.) the Oakland Raiders (3-8) and Tennessee Titans (5-6), Carolina Panthers (4-7) and Detroit Lions (2-9), and the Washington Redskins (3-8) and the Seattle Seahawks(4-7).

Jacksonville Jaguars (6-5) and Buffalo Bills (4-7) - Flat out the Jags are playing up to their potential, having the sheer luck now in their schedule to play: Rams, Chiefs, Jets, and Bills. They have now move into 2nd in their division behind the undefeated Colts and into Wild Card Contention. This match-up would be a rematch from November 22. I flat out think though that the Jags are a much better football team than the Bills. The Bills have now fired their head coach and have too many key injures on both sides of the ball to compete with them. And then you forget the biggest cancer in T.O. Even though the past 2 weeks has had good games he is always the cancer lurking ready to throw someone under the bus.

Oakland Raiders (3-8) and Tennessee Titans (5-6) - With Vince Young finally inserted into quarterback this team is rolling. They have continued to just win. They have now one 5 straight. While the Raiders who seem to be a team finally trying now that they have benched Russell. The Titans will be too much and ultimately give the Raiders the loss. I wonder if Al Davis is finally thinking about why he even drafted Russell who cant lead his own team and his own team even wanted him benched. The Titans owner on the other hand looks like a genius to force the head coach to play Young who has now won 5 straight and led them to victory this past week in a 99 drive that had them complete 4th down after 4th down to beat the Arizona Cardinals.

Carolina Panthers (4-7) and Detroit Lions (2-9) - The Lions are the Lions with only victories against the Washington Redskins and the Cleveland Browns, both games at home for them. The panthers are horrendous as well with Delhomme now throwing 18 interceptions this year. Hit passes just look sometimes like punts giving the opposing team the interceptions gift wrapped. But I believe that Panthers do end up beating the Lions. They have more quality wins against Atlanta and Arizona. And I believe with the Lions defense that can’t stop anyone they will get the victory.

Washington Redskins (3-8) and the Seattle Seahawks (4-7)- Two of Seattle’s 4 wins were against the Rams which shouldn’t even count. They also have against the Jags and Lions. As much as I can’t stand the Redskins I think that Seattle is a worse team. The Redskins have finally started to play like a team. Well their defense anyway. Their defense will show up and beat the Seahawks who really do not have much going for them except their 12th man, the fans always supporting this dismal team. Even though the Redskins have a worse record they at least have been competitive in recent weeks having their defense play good football., to keep their offense in it. Now if they can just get their offense on the same page.

Stay tuned later on for Part 4 in this series!

Mike Mussina 1 year too late and 1 year too soon!

I grew up mainly in Virginia due to where my dad was stationed. Growing up a New York Yankee fan in Virginia is very hard to watch the teams that were airing daily during the summer. One of my best friends was an Orioles fan I believe mainly because at the time the Nationals were non-existent and even then who would really admit to being a Washington Nationals fan? So in the mid to late 90’s he was an Orioles fan and I was the Yankee fan. He had Cal Ripken to root for and I had Don Mattingly. The only games I would watch of the orioles even though sometimes they were the only sport on to watch were games when they played the New York Yankees and when a young kid who came from Stanford University by the name of Mike Mussina. He debuted for the Orioles in 1992 and I had always been a fan of watching him pitch. He was a thinking pitcher and was meticulous in what he threw because he was a small kid and not over powering like Roger Clemens. He was always known as a finesse pitcher with an arsenal of 5 pitches. I loved watching him pitch. Unfortunately despite his great career with the Orioles he always strived to reach the World Series which he was never able to do in Baltimore.
So after watching the Yankees win the World Series in 2000, he decided to make a team change to help him get to the ultimate show. And most players who want to accomplish this feat went to the New York Yankees. So after 10 years with the Orioles he became a New York Yankee. He actually made it to the World Series twice as a Yankee back in 2001 and in 2003 but never actually winning the ring. Sadly he went twice also to the College World series without a championship as well. He never won a Cy Young although he was a 7 time nominee. Was a 5 time all-star and 7 time gold glover. He spent 18 years in the league with a record of 270-153. He is 33rd all time in wins and 19th in strikeouts with 2813. Since joining the Yankees in 2001 he had at the time of his retirement in 2008 the most wins of any other AL pitcher. He is the 1st pitcher to ever win 10 or more games for 15 straight seasons. Now you can see why this pitcher was one of my favorites of all time. He was a complete and consistent pitcher. And 2 months then after attaining his first 20 win season, the oldest ever to complete that feat but watching the Yankees miss the playoffs for the first time in 13 years he announced his retirement. An as a Yankee fan I cant help now after watching the Yankees win their 27th championship that there was one man who was not on that podium, Mike Mussina. Who became a Yankee one year too late to win in 2000 and retired one year too early to win in 2009. But I will take this time to say thank you to Moose for being a class act and for all the years you have giving to the AL East. You should be a Hall of Famer!
